Jacksonville State tops SE Missouri 17-10 behind Jenkins

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Eli Jenkins threw for 144 yards and a TD to become Jacksonville State's career passing leader in Saturday's 17-10 win over Southeast Missouri State in a penalty plagued game.

Jenkins completed 10 of 19, surpassing Ed Lett's (1979-82) record of 7,145 career passing yards.

Jenkins threw a 20-yard TD pass to Josh Barge, but later had to sit out after taking a hard hit. Backup Bryant Horn's 11-yard TD pass to Josh Clemons gave the Gamecocks (8-1, 5-0 Ohio Valley) a 17-0 halftime lead.

One player was ejected and 25 penalties were assessed for fouls including an on-field altercation after a kickoff, for a combined 214 yards.

The Gamecocks allowed no rushing yards and outgained the Redhawks 350-206 in total yards. Siran Neal and Jaylen Hill each intercepted passes by Jesse Hosket.

Hosket hit Kristian Wikerson on 49-yard TD strike for the Redhawks (3-6, 3-3) and Ryan McCrum kicked a 23-yard field goal.
