Norfolk State downs Morgan State 27-14

NORFOLK, Va. -- Greg Hankerson threw for three touchdowns as Norfolk State picked up its first conference win, downing Morgan State 27-14 on Saturday.

Hankerson had 219 yards passing for the Spartans (2-6, 1-4 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). He also led in rushing with 59 yards on 12 carries. Chuma Awanna had 66 yards and a score receiving and Cameron Marouf kicked two field goals.

In the third quarter, Hankerson hit Larry Bishop from 2 yards for a score and on the Spartans' next drive found Awanna for a 63-yard touchdown to give Norfolk State a 24-7 advantage with 2:37 left in the period.

Hankerson threw a 5-yard scoring pass to Gerard Johnson late in the first quarter and Marouf kicked a 27-yard field goal midway through the second and the Spartans led 10-7 at halftime.

DeAndre Harris threw for 161 yards and two touchdowns for the Bears (2-5, 2-3).
