McNeese St. beats Lamar, has 12th straight winning season

LAKE CHARLES, La. -- James Tabary threw for 235 yards and one score and ran for another touchdown as McNeese State closed out the season with a 41-10 victory over Lamar on Saturday night to secure the Cowboys 12th straight winning season.

Tabary, who already owns the school single-season records for most completions and pass attempts, finished just 33 yards short of the single-season record for passing yards. He totaled 3,036 for the year. Blake Prejean set the mark (3,068) in 1997.

McNeese State (6-5, 5-4 Southland Conference) won this game last year 20-14 to complete the regular season undefeated.

The Cowboys, leading 28-3 at the break, quickly got another score when Jermaine Antoine intercepted Adam Morse and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter.

Four McNeese State players scored rushing touchdowns.

Lamar (3-8, 3-6) was held to just 34 rushing yards. Morse led the Cardinals with 182 yards passing.
