Wofford shuts out VMI in regular season finale 17-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Lorenzo Long ran for 111 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown and Wofford closed its regular season with a four-game win streak and a 17-0 win over VMI on Saturday.

Wofford is still on contention for an at-large berth in the FCS playoff which begins Nov. 26.

Blake Morgan finished with 58 yards rushing and quarterback Brandon Goodson added 54 more to go along with 46 yards passing and a touchdown for the Terriers (8-3, 6-2 Southern Conference). Overall, the Terriers carried 49 times for 325 yards.

Al Cobb threw for 184 yards and Aaron Sanders finished with 84 yards receiving to lead VMI (3-8, 1-7).

A David Marvin 30-yard field goal for Wofford were the only points until late in the fourth quarter, when Long finally broke through on a 6-yard score which made it 10-0 and effectively iced it.
