Bulldogs 27, Redbirds 24

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Cole Ingle completed 10-of-18 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns to lead Drake to a 27-24 last-minute victory over Illinois State Thursday.

Drake wide receiver Agustine Agyei caught his only pass of the night with 23 seconds left, a 56-yard bomb from Ingle, for the winning touchdown.

The Redbirds held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first half and led 10-0 at the break. But Drake (1-0, Pioneer) scored 13 in the third quarter and 14 in the fourth, including a 28-yard touchdown from Ingle to Daniel Marx.

Scott Phaydavong gained 111 yards on 30 carries for the Bulldogs.

Running back Rafael Rice rushed 27 times for 218 yards and added two touchdowns for Illinois State (0-1, Gateway).

Luke Drone completed 20 of 35 passes and one touchdown for the Redbirds, but he had three interceptions, including one in the third quarter that Cale Hunt returned for a touchdown.

Illinois State lost despite 508 total yards offense, compared to 361 for Drake.
