How FSU, Nebraska and others are recruiting to rebuild

Willie Taggart has a big job ahead at Florida State. Melina Myers/USA TODAY Sports

This season's first edition of the Eliminator has, well, eliminated several high-profile programs from playoff contention after four weeks. So where do Florida State, USC and several others turn? To the recruiting trail, of course.

Here's a look at where five big-name programs stand looking ahead to next year.

Florida State Seminoles

Willie Taggart's first full class in Tallahassee is currently ranked No. 9 with a list that includes 11 ESPN 300 commitments and 15 four-stars. Florida State went to the Tar Heel State for a signal-caller, beating out Clemson and others for Sam Howell. The Seminoles are loading up in the secondary with five four-stars headlined by cornerback Akeem Dent and one-time Alabama verbal Brendan Gant. The concern is obviously the offensive line where FSU still has a lot of work to do. Guard Dontae Lucas is one building block, but this team has got to get better up front in a hurry.
