Where could Jalen Hurts play next year?

College Football, Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Oregon Ducks, Houston Cougars, Arizona State Sun Devils

The clock started ticking for Jalen Hurts the moment Tua Tagovailoa was named the starting quarterback at Alabama.

Whether Hurts plays a fifth game this season and loses the ability to redshirt or not, he isn't likely to stay in Tuscaloosa as the backup beyond this season. He's simply too good and too accomplished not to be a starter somewhere.

What comes next is strictly business. He is on pace to graduate in December and could become one of the most sought-after transfers in the sport's history.

A former SEC Offensive Player of the Year and with a 26-2 record as a starter, there may be only a dozen of the 130 FBS program schools playing college football that wouldn't benefit from adding Hurts to their roster. Only Georgia, with Jake Fromm and Justin Fields; Ohio State, with Dwayne Haskins; and USC, with JT Daniels, come to mind as some of the few programs not in need of a quarterback.

While there may be highly rated prospects waiting in the wings in some places, remember that Hurts is already a proven commodity. And in a day and age when coaches are fighting every year to stay off the hot seat, that's awfully appealing. So whether he takes the redshirt or not, whether he's a one-year or two-year rental, he's going to have suitors, and lots of them.

The key in all of this is fit.

Taking into account things like style of offense, location and ability to play immediately, we came up with 10 possible destinations -- in alphabetical order -- for the likely soon-to-be free agent.
