Anthony Joshua can only be beaten by Deontay Wilder - Tony Bellew

Boxing

Tony Bellew insists Deontay Wilder is the only heavyweight on the planet that could drop Anthony Joshua.

The, as yet, unannounced WBA mandatory fight between Joshua and Alexander Povetkin has put a dark cloud over a potential unification fight between Wilder and Joshua, which now looks likely to happen April 2019 at the earliest.

"It's embarrassing Deontay Wilder has 40 fights and fought the names he has. But, the only man on the planet who can beat Anthony Joshua is Wilder," Bellew told the Metro. "No one else stands a chance. Not even Tyson Fury.

"Styles make fights. Does anyone think Joshua would find it hard to catch Fury clean? Does anyone think Fury has the power to hurt Joshua? It's easy to see the outcome in that fight. It's a brutal stoppage and I believe Wilder would do the same to Fury."

Bellew, who defeated David Haye in a fifth-round TKO in March also believes that Joshua will smash Povetkin who has twice tested positive for banned substances in his boxing career.

"No one wants to see a 12-round match, two fighters playing chess. They turn up to see blood, guts and someone going to sleep. Joshua has done that time and time again, and I believe he'll deliver that when he faces Povetkin. I think he'll absolutely obliterate him. Smash him in three or four rounds at most."
