The Seattle Seahawks announced more changes to Pete Carroll's revamped coaching staff Friday, making official several moves that had previously been reported.

The one move that had yet to be reported is the addition of Steve Shimko as offensive assistant. The other two additions are Jethro Franklin as assistant defensive line coach and Larry Izzo as assistant special-teams coach. Franklin replaces Dwaine Board while Izzo takes over for Heath Farwell, who left to take the same position on the Panthers' staff.

Three returning Seahawks coaches will have new roles. Dave Canales moves from wide receivers coach to quarterbacks coach, replacing Carl Smith, who will remain on staff as associate head coach. Nate Carroll, one of Pete's two sons on staff, takes over for Canales with a promotion from assistant receivers coach.

Those moves are part of what has been the most significant overhaul of Carroll's staff since he took over in 2010. It comes on the heels of a 9-7 finish that snapped the Seahawks' string of five consecutive seasons with a playoff berth and at least 10 victories. Seattle previously fired offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell (replacing him with Brian Schottenheimer), defensive coordinator Kris Richard (Ken Norton Jr.), offensive line coach Tom Cable (Mike Solari) and linebackers coach Michael Barrow (no official replacement).

Additionally, the Seahawks announced a mutual parting of ways with senior defensive assistant Travis Jones. Assistant defensive backs coach Ricky Manning Jr. was not listed on the team's updated list of coaches and was previously reported by Seattle's Sports Radio 950 KJR to be out.

That makes eight members of the Seahawks' 2017 staff who won't be back next season. Cable was Seattle's assistant head coach/offense while Barrow held a similar title on defense, which means that of those eight, four were Carroll's top two assistants on either side of the ball.

Quite the makeover.

Here's a quick look at Seattle's three newest coaches:

Steve Shimko, offensive assistant. He has a tie to Schottenheimer, having worked with him at Georgia in 2015 when Schottenheimer was the Bulldogs' OC. Shimko makes the jump to the NFL from the community college ranks having spent the last two seasons as OC and QB coach at Garden City (Kansas) Community College, which won a national championship after the 2016 season. Shimko also coached at Rutgers -- where he played quarterback -- and Western Michigan.

Larry Izzo, assistant special-teams coach. He was the Texans' special-teams coordinator the last two seasons and previously spent five seasons as assistant coordinator for the Giants. A tremendous special-teamer during his 14-year career as player in the NFL, Izzo won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and was named to three Pro Bowls. He also played for the Dolphins and Jets. Izzo will work under Brian Schneider, who's been Seattle's special-teams coach since 2010.

Jethro Franklin, assistant defensive line coach. He spent the last three seasons as the Raiders' defensive line coach, where he worked under Norton but was not retained by new coach Jon Gruden. He also has a previous tie to Carroll, having spent the 2005 and 2009 seasons in the same capacity at USC. Franklin's other stops as an NFL coach have been with the Packers, Buccaneers and Texans. He appeared in seven games for the Seahawks as a defensive end in 1989. Franklin will work under Clint Hurtt, who was hired as Seattle's defensive line coach last year.
