Breaking down Daniel Kilgore's three-year contract with the 49ers

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The San Francisco 49ers moved quickly to retain starting center Daniel Kilgore soon after signing quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a massive five-year contract extension.

Kilgore signed a three-year, $11.775 million deal on Feb. 14. The contract includes $4.825 million in full guarantees and another $2.225 million if you include the injury guarantee to bring the total guaranteed money to $7.05 million. It also could increase to a little more than $12 million in total worth if Kilgore reaches all bonuses and incentives.

Speaking to local media on the day he signed, Kilgore called the deal "team friendly" and it certainly appears to be. Armed with copious cap space in 2018, the 49ers will pay all of Kilgore's guaranteed money this year, essentially making this a one-year contract the 49ers can get out of as soon as 2019 without any dead money.
