Odell Beckham Jr. has already begun working out for next season

The primary rehabilitation portion of the process appears to be over. New York Giants star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. appears to have graduated to the training portion of his comeback from a broken left ankle suffered back in October.

Beckham is out in Los Angeles where he spends his offseasons. He is back working with his trainer, Jamal Liggin, with no apparent effects of the injury that derailed his season.

Beckham remained in New Jersey and rehabbed at the team facility for most of the 2017 season. He was progressing well and shed his walking boot last month, when he also began running under water before progressing to more rigorous activities.

He's obviously well past that point. Now, Beckham is training instead of rehabbing a little more than three months after having his leg shattered late in a loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

There is no rush. Beckham has time. The regular-season opener is still some eight months away.

It all bodes well for Beckham and the Giants. He’s making progress and the expectation is that he will return at 100 percent next season. That has always been the case.

This should help Beckham’s cause. He’s looking to get paid as he enters next season on the fifth-year option of his contract.

The Giants and co-owner John Mara have said in the past they want Beckham to remain with the team. He’s a transcendent talent. New general manager Dave Gettleman said at his introductory news conference when asked about Beckham that he was once told by former GM Ernie Accorsi that you “don’t quit on talent.”

Beckham had over 1,300 yards and at least 10 touchdown receptions each of his first three professional seasons. He had 25 catches for 302 yards and three touchdowns in four games in this injury-shortened season. And now he appears to be getting healthier.
