Max Kellerman shares what he gleans from Giants GM Dave Gettleman appointing Mike Shula as offensive coordinator and James Bettcher as the defensive coordinator. (1:40)

Pat Shurmur's coaching staff finally appears complete. The New York Giants are set to hire Mike Shula as their offensive coordinator, according to a source.

Once that becomes official, this will be most of Shurmur's staff, per sources:

Defensive coordinator: James Bettcher

Bettcher comes from the Arizona Cardinals, where in his three seasons as defensive coordinator he never had a defense ranked outside the top six in the league. Bettcher, 39, is considered a bright, young defensive mind. He replaces Steve Spagnuolo, who interviewed for the Giants head-coaching job. Spagnuolo was passed over for the second time in two years, and with another year remaining on his contract, he is likely to sit out this year with a lack of defensive coordinator jobs currently available.

Offensive coordinator: Mike Shula

The former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator will double as the Giants' quarterbacks coach, which is only possible because this is Shurmur’s offense and the former Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator will be calling plays. Shula had some success working with Cam Newton; the coach also experienced his ups and downs in Carolina. But Shula should mesh well with what the Giants are trying to build under new general manager Dave Gettleman, who was his boss for four seasons with the Panthers. Shula replaces Mike Sullivan and Frank Cignetti, who served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, respectively, under Ben McAdoo.

Special-teams coordinator: Thomas McGaughey

McGaughey spent the past two seasons as the Panthers' special-teams coach, and Gettleman saw firsthand what McGaughey can do. The Panthers finished 10th in Rick Gosselin's 2017 NFL special-teams rankings, while the Giants finished 32nd under former longtime special-teams coach Tom Quinn.

Special-teams assistant: Anthony Blevins

The former Cardinals assistant special-teams coach just finished his fifth season in Arizona. He’s an extremely bright guy, coming to the Giants with a Ph.D. in instructional systems and workforce development.

Offensive line coach: Hal Hunter

The veteran coach was out of football last year. He previously spent a season as the Cleveland Browns offensive line coach after several years with the Indianapolis Colts and San Diego Chargers. Hunter has no known connection to Shurmur and replaces veteran O-line coach Mike Solari, who was hired by the Seattle Seahawks as their line coach.

Assistant offensive line coach: Ben Wilkerson

The former NFL lineman spent the past three seasons as an assistant offensive line coach with the Chicago Bears.

Wide receivers coach: Tyke Tolbert

Tolbert most recently was the wide receivers coach for the Denver Broncos from 2011 to 2017, before being relieved of his duties after the season. He previously spent time with the Panthers, Buffalo Bills and Cardinals. Tolbert will be tasked with handling and mentoring Odell Beckham Jr. with the Giants. Beckham was extremely close with previous wide receivers coach Adam Henry, who left to join the Browns. Beckham does have a previous relationship with Tolbert, who knows his parents.

Running backs coach: Craig Johnson

Johnson, who is one of the few holdovers from the Tom Coughlin era, is being retained by Shurmur after spending the past four seasons as the Giants running backs coach. Last season was the veteran’s 35th year in coaching, though much of his career has been spent tutoring quarterbacks.

Tight ends coach: Lunda Wells

Wells was the Giants' assistant offensive line coach for the past five seasons but will move to tight ends under Shurmur. He has not previously coached tight ends but is well respected by the Giants players. He also worked under McGaughey at LSU.

Offensive assistant: Ryan Roeder

Roeder is back in the same role he held under the previous Giants regime. He's a former quarterback at the University of Albany.

Defensive line coach: Gary Emanuel

A longtime college assistant -- he even had a stint at Rutgers -- Emanuel spent the past six seasons as the defensive line coach for the Indianapolis Colts.

Linebackers coach: Bill McGovern

McGovern returns for his third season with the Giants. The veteran coach, who worked with Shurmur in Philadelphia under Chip Kelly, has coached in both 3-4 and 4-3 systems.

Defensive backs coach: Lou Anarumo

Anarumo is the former defensive backs coach for the Miami Dolphins. He has a tough job ahead of him with the Giants DB room in shambles after a season in which it had three players suspended for conduct.

Assistant defensive backs coach: DeShea Townsend

The longtime NFL defensive back spent the past two seasons coaching the Tennessee Titans' secondary. He also served as an assistant with the Cardinals and in college at Mississippi State.

Others: Chris Pridy

Pridy was the assistant to the head coach for McAdoo and then Spagnuolo, when the latter served on an interim basis.
