Tom Brady gets to work on players' day off at Gillette Stadium

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Tuesday is officially a players’ day off for the New England Patriots, but it’s no surprise that some of them have shown up for work, and others are likely to arrive later in the day. Quarterback Tom Brady is one of them.

Brady showed up at the facility mid-morning, as this is traditionally the day he meets with coach Bill Belichick to talk about how the offense wants to attack the opposition.

Before doing so, he answered questions as part of his weekly interview on sports radio WEEI’s “Kirk and Callahan” program, and one of the topics was how Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey expressed his confidence in Jacksonville winning the Super Bowl.

“What I’ve learned over a long time is it’s how you play and it’s not what you say,” Brady said. “Everyone has different ways of handling things. Coaches do. Players do. We do what works for us. The game is going to be decided by who plays the best, not who hypes the best or speaks the best.

“He’s a really good player. I’ve watched a ton of film on him. He has a lot of strengths. He’s obviously very confident, and that’s reflected in how he plays. So I’m more concerned with how he plays as opposed to what he says. I’ve never bought into any of those things. I know what our offense is capable of. We’re going to need to play really well to score points. Again, that just speaks to the hype and us trying to really stay focused on what we need to do. And the better we stay focused, and the more laser-focused we are on our targets, the better I think we’ll play.”

Brady, as usual, was complimentary of the team he is preparing to face. He said it’s been “a busy couple days” studying the Jaguars on film.

“It was good because it really kind of gets you focused on where you need to be. This is the biggest challenge we've faced all year,” he said on sports radio WEEI.

“We've had a good offense. They've had the best defense. And that's always a challenge when you go up against those guys. When you watch them play over the course of the season, you can see why. There is not a lot of time for the quarterback to throw, and I think the whole secondary knows it. The linebackers know it. And they're aggressive. They take chances. They get a lot of turnovers. They have a really good scheme, and the quarterback is just under pressure all day."
