Patriots unbothered by Jalen Ramsey's Super Bowl prediction

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey expressed his confidence by telling fans Sunday that his team would win the Super Bowl, but the New England Patriots aren’t taking his words as a sign of disrespect.

“Jalen Ramsey is a good player. He talks a lot of trash. That’s a part of his game, and you can’t take it away from him," Patriots safety Duron Harmon, one of the team’s captains, said Monday. "He’s confident. He should be confident in his team. He has a really good football team.

“The top two AFC teams are left, and he’s a part of one of them. His approach to the game is different from ours, but we can’t knock him for it.”

Harmon noted that the Jaguars probably felt disrespected by the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, as some Steelers players had been tweeting in the days leading up to the game about looking forward to an AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.

As for what the Patriots expect from the Jaguars, Harmon said Sunday is likely to be New England’s most physical game of the year, highlighting how Jacksonville averaged 141.4 rushing yards per game during the regular season, which ranked first in the NFL. He added that he knew the Jaguars were a good team from August, when they traveled to town for three joint practices and the preseason opener.

Patriots players were at the facility for meetings on Monday as they went over corrections from Saturday’s divisional-round victory over the Titans and also received their first scouting report on the Jaguars. Several players said they watched Jacksonville’s 45-42 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.

Ramsey’s remarks to Jaguars fans at a welcome-home rally in Jacksonville were also noted.

“Man, that guy is really good. He should be confident because he’s very, very good,” special-teams captain Matthew Slater said. “When the good Lord made that guy, he said, ‘Let there be corner.’ And there he is. I’d be confident if I were him as well.”
