Rumor Central: Could Rajon Rondo make his Pelicans debut soon?

Rajon Rondo has missed every game so far in the 2017-18 NBA regular-season as he recovers from surgery on Oct. 10 to fix a core muscle injury. There is a chance Rondo might be cleared to make his debut for the New Orleans Pelicans' game on Nov. 17 against the Denver Nuggets.

"My lateral movement, that's the hardest part to come back from with a sports hernia," Rondo told The Times-Picayune. "Moving forward and backwards is easy, but being able to stay in front of guys and move side to side would be the most difficult part. I'm waiting on that."

The Pelicans signed Rondo to a one-year, $3.3 million contract back in July with the view of having him run the point guard position, shifting Jrue Holiday to shooting guard. With Rondo sidelined, head coach Alvin Gentry has started a backcourt with Holiday at point guard and E'Twaun Moore at shooting guard.

Rondo is all about looking long-term, so he won't join the active roster until he's fully up to speed.

"It's a marathon," Rondo said. "I want to play the rest of the (season). I don't want to come back and play two games, then I'm sitting out for another two weeks."
