Rumor Central: Dion Waiters still hindered by left ankle issues?

The Miami Heat lost their first game of the 2017-18 NBA regular season to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, and shooting guard Dion Waiters struggled with pain to his left ankle.

"It's just annoying, man. It sucks, for real," Waiters told The Miami Herald after the game. "The littlest thing [affects it]. It's whatever, though."

Waiters chose to rehab his ankle over the summer instead of having surgery, as he felt that was the best option heading into free agency. Waiters ended up coming back to the Heat after signing a four-year, $47.3 million contract. There is a chance he will have to deal with left ankle pain for a good part of this season after making just 46 appearances in 2016-17.

"Yeah. But like I said, we just got to go about it the best way we can," Waiters said. "At the end of the day, it needs more strengthening, the little exercises and just getting it strong. Once everything picks up with that, it should be fine."
