According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the Utah Jazz and guard Rodney Hood are not expected to finalize a rookie-scale extension by Monday's deadline.

By waiting until next summer to look at Hood's situation, the Jazz will have the entire 2017-18 season to evaluate their projected shooting guard.

Hood, who turns 25 on Oct. 20, played in 59 games during the 2016-17 season and averaged 12.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists. Hood's history of injuries is a concern for the Jazz, as he's missed 58 regular-season games during his first three years in the NBA. If he can stay healthy, Hood should be in line for a lucrative deal in 2018 as a restricted free agent.

Dante Exum is also eligible to sign an extension, but due to his recent shoulder injury, the Jazz will have to postpone any contract negotiations with him until next July.
