Rumor Central: Ed Davis prefers to stay in Portland long-term

The contract forward Ed Davis signed with the Portland Trail Blazers in July 2015 is set to expire at the end of June. If it's up to Davis, he will sign another deal with the Blazers next summer.

"I really enjoy the organization, the teammates and the coaching staff," Davis told the Portland Tribune.

Davis' season ended early in 2016-17 as he had surgery in March to repair his left shoulder (labrum). Davis says his shoulder has fully healed and he's ready for a strong season.

"Every year is important, but this year is definitely big," Davis said. "It's my contract year. I didn't play well last year. I feel like I let the people down here. I want to give it everything I've got."

Davis, 28, averaged 4.3 points and 5.3 rebounds in 46 appearances, including 12 starts, last season.
