UPDATE: According to Mike Scatto of Basketball Insiders and confirmed by The Dallas Morning News, Noel has moved from agent Happy Walters to Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

Paul's top NBA clients include LeBron James (Cavs), John Wall (Wizards), Tristan Thompson (Cavs), Ben Simmons (Sixers), Eric Bledsoe (Suns) and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (Lakers).

NBA training camps open in about five weeks, and center Nerlens Noel has yet to sign a new contract with the Dallas Mavericks. Noel believes he's worthy of a max contract, but that is not coming his way from the Mavericks. As a result, the four-year NBA veteran is considering changing agents, according to Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan. Noel had been with agent Andy Miller, but dropped him in December to sign with Happy Walters of Catalyst Sports and Media.

Back in July, Walters blamed the Mavericks for the lack of progress in re-signing Noel.

"We're very disappointed with where things stand," Walters said. "Nerlens loves Dallas and spent June there working out, but we're still waiting on a serious offer."

As a restricted free agent, Noel has zero leverage, since no other remaining NBA team with significant salary-cap room is willing to tender a high-dollar offer sheet. At this point, Noel can accept the $4,187,599 qualifying offer from Dallas, which would make him an unrestricted free agent in 2018, or sign the multiyear deal that is currently on the table from the Mavericks.

Noel is obviously not thrilled with the Mavericks' offer, and he may feel that another high-powered agent can get him a better deal, which is why Walters could be dropped.

Noel joined Dallas on Feb. 23 as part of a multiplayer trade with the Philadelphia 76ers. In 22 appearances with the Mavericks, 12 starts, Noel averaged 8.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
