Rumor Central: Timberwolves will consider all options with lottery pick

The Minnesota Timberwolves will own the No. 6 selection in the 2017 draft, if they don't move from their position via Tuesday's NBA lottery. According to owner Glen Taylor, the team will consider all options with the pick, including moving down, if they don't land in the top-3.

Rumor Central

"I think once we get there, there’s always a possibility to do a trade or move up or down -- probably down," Taylor told the Pioneer Press. "You’d trade No. 6 for No. 15 or something like that and get a player that could help us. There’s just a lot of things. But at this point, we haven’t looked at any of those just because we’ve got to see where we end up.

"If you end up for some reason at Nos. 1, 2 or 3, you’re very unlikely to trade it."

The Timberwolves are a very young team, and they could choose to trade their lottery pick for a veteran who would improve the starting lineup.

"We just have to see who’s there [in the draft]," Taylor said. "I don’t think our expectations are that somebody’s going to be there [at No. 6] that’s going to start and help make a big difference for us. But who knows how other teams look at it."

Possible targets at No. 6 could include Duke's Jayson Tatum, Florida State's Jonathan Isaac, Kentucky's Malik Monk and Arizona's Lauri Markkanen.
