Rumor Central: Jonathan Isaac best draft fit for Timberwolves?

The Minnesota Timberwolves have plenty of young talent with Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and Zach LaVine. Barring breaking into the top three in the NBA draft, the guy to join that group should be Jonathan Isaac, per ESPN's Fran Fraschilla.

The Timberwolves, if lottery form holds, will have the sixth pick in the June 22 draft and would be wise to add the Florida State forward. The draft lottery is set for Tuesday (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/WatchESPN).

"You’re talking about a young, mobile big guy that can play away from the basket, space the floor," Fraschilla said on a pre-draft conference call recently. "He’s got a great IQ for his age. He’s a high-character kid. And he’s a willing defensive player. Could end up being as good a defender as anybody in this draft over 6-7."

Isaac, 6-foot-11 and 205 pounds, averaged 12.0 points and 7.8 rebounds last season as a freshman.

ESPN's Jeff Goodman said the Timberwolves should go for the best player available. If they remain at No. 6, they could look for a player who has slipped, such as Jayson Tatum, Lauri Markkanen or another point guard despite having LaVine, Ricky Rubio and last year's lottery pick, Kris Dunn, on the roster.

"To me, it would be a point guard still," Goodman added. "I don’t know if Zach LaVine is really a point, and I know they’re trying to move Rubio if they can, and they’ve got Kris Dunn, who didn’t play well."
