Jordan Bishop, Monona Grove High School

Year:Senior.

Sports: Football, basketball, track and field.

Sports highlights: Jordan is a three-time letterwinner in football, starting at quarterback and at punter as a senior and at strong safety as a junior. A team captain as a senior, he earned unanimous All-Badger South Conference first-team honors at quarterback and was named the league’s Player of the Year on Offense. The Silver Eagles repeated as conference champions and have advanced to the second round of the WIAA Division 2 playoffs. Through 10 games, Jordan has completed 105 of 169 passes for 1,778 yards and 22 touchdowns with one interception. He has also run for 370 yards and three TDs.

He is a returning letterwinner competing at forward in basketball and also participated in the 200-meter dash and the long jump in track and field as a freshman.

Pre-game ritual or superstition: Not very superstitious, but I like to nap beforehand.

Cumulative GPA: 3.97.

Favorite subject/class: Personal Finance

Favorite teacher: Mr. Neumann and Mrs. Stangland

I got my start in sports: At the YMCA basketball league and playing tee-ball.

I wish I compete in: Volleyball and swimming.

My most memorable moments in sports: Making it to Camp Randall Stadium in football my sophomore year, playing for the sectional championship in basketball my junior year and making it to the championship game for the 8th grade state tournament in basketball.

I like about high school sports: I like being able to associate with many different types of people that I may not have had the chance to meet without my involvement in sports.

I enjoy playing football and basketball because: They both are such fast-paced sports that can push you to your physical peak while constantly challenging you mentally.

Advice: “Stay focused and know your goals.”

My role models are: My parents, Susan and Bob.

Most inspirational teammate: Payton Spalding, he always gives 110 percent effort and has a true passion for sports.

My family includes: My mom, Susan, her boyfriend, Brian, my dad, Bob, my stepmom, Debbie, and my sister, Abby.

My perfect day: Eating lots of food throughout the day while hanging with friends and family, and also participating in lots of outdoor activities.

This and that: Member of National Honor Society and Chess Club… competes at HOSA competitions … volunteer work includes: MG Jump Start program for incoming freshmen, the Ironman, setting up and cleaning up at various summer festivals, filling sandbags during last summer’s flooding, assisting at youth football camps … played first base and pitched for MG’s Legion baseball team … played AAU basketball with Wisconsin Academy for four years … earned an Academic Letter and member of Honor Roll throughout high school.

Hobbies: Swimming, hanging with friends, playing cards, and exercising.

Post-high school plans: Attend University of Wisconsin-La Crosse or University of Wisconsin-Madison to major in Kinesiology and then earn my doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
