Lauren Beauchaine, Oregon High School

Year: Senior

Sports: Cross country, track and field.

Sports highlights: Lauren is a three-time letterwinner in cross country. As a junior, she finished eighth at the Badger South Conference meet to earn all-conference first team honors. She was voted a team captain and selected by her teammates as the Panthers’ Most Dedicated Runner. As a sophomore, she finished 16th at the conference meet to earn all-league second-team honors. She also received the team’s Most Inspirational award. She is a three-time letterwinner in track and field, competing in the long distance events.

Pre-competition ritual or superstition: Eating lots of pasta the night before a race at the team pasta dinner.

Cumulative GPA: 3.99.

Favorite subject/class: AP Psychology.

Favorite teacher: Mr. Oksuita.

Quick quote: “Competing in sports has taught me that every moment of hard work and dedication to your sport will pay off in the end.”

Three words to describe me are: Kind, perfectionist, driven.

I got my start in sports: Signing up for coach Debroux’s summer cross country running camp when I was in the fourth grade.

I wish I could play: Soccer.

My most memorable moments in sports: During my junior season of cross country at the Badger South Conference meet when I finished in eighth place and received all-conference first-team honors. I had been working towards that goal all season and it felt amazing to finally accomplish it.

I like about high school sports: Getting to know competitors from other schools and all the kind and supportive teammates I have had throughout my high school career.

I enjoy running because: I can challenge myself to push past my mental and physical limits every time I run. I love the sense of accomplishment that running gives me and how it can instantly make me feel better.

Advice: “Set your goals above and beyond what you believe you can accomplish. You can achieve so many great things if you stick with the sport you are passionate about and give it your all. Don’t wait to be great!”

My role models are: My mom, Michele, dad, Dave, and coach Doug Debroux.

Most inspirational teammate: Maddie Lebrun, who was a senior when I was a freshman. She was always the most positive and approachable person on the team, and she was a great runner. She inspired me to be a better runner.

My family also includes: My brother, Nate.

Nicknames: Lu, Lulu and sometimes Lolo.

Words to live by: “Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret to success.”

Favorite athlete: Olympic marathoner Shalane Flanagan.

Favorite team: Wisconsin Badgers.

Favorite opponent: Stoughton.

Favorite facility/site to compete in: The Baertschi Invite.

Favorite movie: ‘You Again’.

Favorite TV show: ‘Modern Family’.

Favorite food: Nectarines.

Favorite fast food place and/or restaurant: Cheesecake Factory.

Favorite sport on TV: Track and field.

Favorite place to visit: Door County, Wisconsin.

I want to visit: Thailand.

Top three favorite songs: Any song by Vance Joy.

Favorite website: Pinterest.

I drive: A 2006 Ford Explorer.

Dream car: A Black Jeep Wrangler.

I can’t live without: Coffee from Firefly Coffee House in Oregon.

I like Oregon High School because: The students have a voice in many academic and sports related things and the teachers and coaches sincerely care about the students.

If I could change anything: I wish I was a few inches taller! I am 5-foot-2.

I wish I could meet: Vance Joy.

Dream date: Have a picnic on the beach or go ice skating in a park.

Dream gift: A black Jeep Wrangler and an Apple watch.

Preferred brand of shoe: Birkenstocks and Sauconys for running.

My perfect day: Going for an early morning run with my teammates, getting coffee, and then spending the entire day hiking and swimming at Devils Lake State Park.

I like to read: Nonfiction.

This and that: Dancer at ‘A Leap Above Dance’ for 10 years … had a summer School internship assisting special needs’ children with their academic skills for three summers … volunteer work includes Special Olympics volunteer, Sunday School aide, babysitter for multiple families, took two mission trips to Colorado and Toronto, Canada.

Academic honors: Summa Cum Laude (Freshman, Sophomore and Junior year) and member of National Honor Society.

Hobbies: Dancing, taking pictures, traveling, yoga, and cooking.

Post-high school plans: Attend a university in Wisconsin to study health care.

Did you know? I’ve been on two mission trips to Toronto and Colorado. I learned that I love to serve others and help people who are in need.

Career goal: I want to be successful in a career in the health care field.
