Before Kenneth Ogbe committed to Utah, there was significant pursuit for the 6-foot-6 German prospect. Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reported that after speaking with a source close to Xavier's coaching staff (Xavier, along with Georgia Tech and the Utes, was recruiting Ogbe) and that person confirmed Ogbe '...was special.' Around the time Ogbe was officially announced as a member of the 2013-14 squad, coach Larry Krystkowiak noted the guard would be an integral part of the Utes' backcourt and praised his defensive ability and high basketball IQ.
