Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin still searching for first interception

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Maybe game No. 39 will be the one.

That's what Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Colvin is hoping, anyway. The fourth-year player from Oklahoma has played in 38 games so far but is still searching for his first career interception. Not that he's counting or anything.

"I've just got to stay patient," Colvin said. "Just got to keep working. They're coming. I keep telling myself that."

Colvin has started 20 games in his career -- including 15 last season -- and is playing his best football in 2017, but he's still searching for interception No. 1. It's funny how that works. If a deflected pass goes right, Colvin's there to catch it, but instead it goes left or falls quickly to the ground. He's in perfect position to make a play on a pass but the quarterback instead sails it over the receiver's head.

Sometimes it's just luck, and Colvin hasn't had any.

He's watched cornerback Jalen Ramsey pick off four passes in 22 games. Safety Tashaun Gipson averages an interception every four games (18 in 72 games). Reserve cornerback Tyler Patmon intercepted one in his seventh career game back in 2014 while playing for the Dallas Cowboys.

Even so, Colvin said he's not pressing.

"It's hard, especially a great defense that you see guys around you are doing that so you know it can be out there," said Colvin, who was the Jaguars' fourth-round pick in 2014. "You can't press, because if you start pressing that's when you start giving up other things."
