OXNARD, Calif. -- Dak Prescott seems to be saving his best for last, at least when it comes to the end of the Dallas Cowboys’ time in California. After missing on just two passes in team and 7-on-7 drills on Tuesday, Prescott completed all 18 of his passes in 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 work Wednesday.  The defensive players might not go for it because the lone incompletion was negated by a pass interference call on safety Jeff Heath. In the situational work to close practice, Prescott escaped the pocket and scrambled to his right. Wide receiver Terrance Williams did a nice job of standing still as the defense floated with Prescott to allow for a lane for the touchdown throw. On the two-point conversion, Prescott hit Williams on a sprint out to the right.
Heading into the final practice in Oxnard on Thursday, Prescott has completed 157 of 213 passes in the 13 padded practices. ** The defense rebounded at least a bit in the individual compete period after getting shut out on Tuesday 9-0. The defense was able to win four of the 11 one-on-one snaps. Safety Jameill Showers was able to snap the offense’s 10-game winning streak by blanketing TE James Hanna on a throw to the end zone for an incompletion. ** RB Ezekiel Elliott brought out a LaDainian Tomlinson-esque celebration after he was able to ease past LB Damien Wilson in the last rep, rolling the ball off his fingers. Elliott and Wilson needed a second chance because there might have been matching penalties on the first snap. Elliott’s change of direction left Wilson flat-footed on the second try, however, much to the delight of the offense. WR Cole Beasley even came over to dust off Elliott’s shoes. ** DE DeMarcus Lawrence was able to get the best of RT La'el Collins off the edge by dipping low to the tackle’s outside shoulder while turning the corner in pass rush drills. DE Benson Mayowa was able to rip under LT Chaz Green and get to the quarterback to start the drill. ** Coach Jason Garrett brought some golf lingo to practice with, “Play it where it lies, boys,” as they went through situational work. He believes not knowing the situational work ahead of time allows for a more intense workout. Despite not having a number of veterans on hand, the practice still had energy. ** On the first snap of one-on-one drills, CB Leon McFadden was able to break up a Prescott-to-Brice Butler fade route in the corner of the end zone. But Butler got his revenge on the last snap when he caught an alley-oop from Prescott over CB Duke Thomas. ** Dan Bailey made all five of his field goal attempts, ranging from 37 to 52 yards. If he does not kick Thursday, then he will leave Oxnard with only two misses all camp. Punter Chris Jones had hang-times ranging from 4.14 seconds to 5.11 seconds on eight punts, including four into a pretty good wind. ** Safety Robert Blanton came up with his first interception of camp, jumping a pass from Kellen Moore to TE Geoff Swaim. ** WR Andy Jones took part in team drills for the first time in a few days. He had been slowed by a quadriceps strain.
