Browns blow 14-point lead in fourth quarter to fall to 0-13

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns keep finding ways to lose games.

Which is fitting for a winless team 13 games into the season, a team that has one win since the start of the 2016 season.

Sunday they led the Green Bay Packers by 14 points in the fourth quarter, only to ultimately lose in overtime 27-21.

Of the many bitter losses over the years, this loss was especially bitter. The Browns had the game and the chance to end the possible shame of a winless season in their hands.

But the defense gave up a 75-yard touchdown drive and a 65-yard punt return in the fourth quarter that allowed the Packers to tie the game with 17 seconds left. The punt return followed a third-down play in which David Njoku dropped a quick slant that would have given the Browns a first down and a chance to run out the clock.

In overtime, the Browns got the ball first and DeShone Kizer ended a good game with a really poor decision by throwing across his body with Clay Matthews on him on third-and-2.

Green Bay easily intercepted the sand wedge pass and took over at the Browns' 42-yard line. They won it on Brett Hundley's 25-yard touchdown pass to Davante Adams with 5:05 left in overtime.

It looked like Kizer was looking for Josh Gordon on the interception, but Damarious Randall had Gordon locked up at the line of scrimmage. Whether Gordon was held will be discussed and debated for some time. Kizer rolled left, threw as he was falling in the middle of the field and the pass fluttered high.

Instead of an uplifting first win of the season, the Browns left the field with their 13th loss in as many games.

In a game in which the Browns had touchdown drives of 88, 70 and 84 yards, they ultimately lost, falling to 1-31 over their past 32, and 1-28 during Hue Jackson's tenure as coach.
