Master Ravens recruiter Eric Weddle is at it again with Jarvis Landry

Baltimore Ravens safety Eric Weddle is credited with last year's recruitment of safety Tony Jefferson and running back Danny Woodhead.

So, who is this year's target for Weddle? One of the best wide receivers available in free agency.

Jarvis Landry put out a tweet on Saturday afternoon, and Weddle playfully responded with "Ravens!"

Jefferson then chimed in with a picture of a raven.

Landry, 25, has been one of the most productive receivers in the NFL since being a second-round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2014. He made 400 receptions in his first four seasons, the most for any player in NFL history. It's also the third-most catches by any player over the past four seasons behind Julio Jones and Antonio Brown. But Landry is more of a possession-type receiver, averaging 10.1 yards per catch.

The Ravens desperately need help at wide receiver. Baltimore could be without its top two wide receivers because Mike Wallace is a free agent and Jeremy Maclin could get cut.

Ravens coach John Harbaugh said it's no secret that the team has to bring in more playmakers, and owner Steve Bisciotti indicated the team would make "a splash" in free agency. Landing Landry would certainly qualify as that.

Landry's agent indicated that the three-time Pro Bowl player wants to be paid like a No. 1 receiver. He could get a contract that averages around $14 million per season.

It's also possible that Landry won't become an unrestricted free agent. The Dolphins could put the franchise tag on him, which overthecap.com estimates will be valued at $16.2 million.

If Landry does hit the market, Weddle could put his persuasive powers to work again. Last year, general manager Ozzie Newsome paid a big compliment to Weddle during the introductory news conference for Woodhead and Jefferson.

"If [Alabama coach] Nick Saban had Eric Weddle recruiting for him, he would not only have the best recruiting class, but I think he would have the best recruiting class next year, also," Newsome said.
