Injuries to Johnson, Palmer have impact on Cardinals prediction

The Arizona Cardinals ended their season on Sunday with a victory over the Seahawks. Here’s a look back at how I predicted their season would unfold.

My predicted record: 11-5

Cardinals’ actual record: 8-8

How I fared: In short, not well. The Cardinals got off to a slower start than I had anticipated -- going 3-4 before their bye, whereas I predicted 5-2 -- because injuries ravaged the offense, specifically to running back David Johnson. My second-half predictions were closer than my first half. I predicted Arizona going 6-3 in its final nine games. In reality, the Cardinals went 5-4, which, considering they lost quarterback Carson Palmer in Week 7, was admirable. I predicted second-half victories over the Houston Texans and Los Angeles Rams that didn’t come to fruition. I also thought Arizona would beat Washington, another game it lost, too.
