ACC Week 13 picks: How will ACC fare vs. SEC on rivalry weekend?

The final week of the regular season is upon us with some pretty important games on the slate. Will the ACC keep up its winning ways over the SEC on rivalry weekend? Will Wake Forest prove its the best team in North Carolina? Andrea Adelson and David Hale weigh in with their picks. Visit our college football PickCenter page for additional information on these games and many more.

Friday

No. 2 Miami (10-0, 7-0) at Pitt (4-7, 2-5), noon, ABC

David Hale: Miami got its scare last week against Virginia. If the way that game unfolded hasn't provided motivation this week, there are bigger problems for the Canes. It's a road game against a decent enough team, but Miami should win this easily. Miami 33, Pitt 17

Andrea Adelson: Miami has generally found itself pushing through adversity in nearly every game this season (yes, there have been a few exceptions, Canes fans), so I expect a noon game on Friday in cold conditions to be no different. Pitt has played its opponents tough, but Miami is the more talented team. Miami 28, Pitt 17

No. 25 Virginia Tech (8-3, 4-3) at Virginia (6-5, 3-4), 8 p.m., ESPN

David Hale: The streak has to end some time, right? Virginia has its best team in a while, Virginia Tech hasn't looked quite right the past few weeks and ... OK, I'm just trying to talk myself into picking something different than Andrea. Virginia 24, Virginia Tech 23

Andrea Adelson: I thought long and hard about picking Virginia in this game, too. Cavaliers quarterback Kurt Benkert has had a great season, and Virginia has some playmakers on defense. But the overall best unit on the field belongs to the Virginia Tech defense, and I think they will make a monumental play to win the game. Virginia Tech 24, Virginia 21

Saturday

No. 7 Georgia (10-1) at Georgia Tech (5-5), noon, ABC

David Hale: Georgia Tech is 66th nationally in yards-per-rush allowed, and it just coughed up 319 on the ground to Duke. What do you think running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will do? Could get ugly. Georgia 35, Georgia Tech 17

Andrea Adelson: Could not have said it any better myself. The Georgia run game is the difference. Georgia 38, Georgia Tech 24

Florida State (4-6) at Florida (4-6), noon, ESPN

David Hale: If Florida State loses this one, it will be the end of days in Tallahassee. As bad as the season has been, fans have already checked this one off as a win -- and a needed one for bowl eligibility. I'm going with the Noles just because I don't want to think about the fallout if they lose. Florida State 17, Florida 13

Andrea Adelson: Those who laugh and joke about Florida State scheduling ULM for Dec. 2 should also realize keeping that bowl streak alive has become the only thing left for FSU to play for this season. And the Noles want to get a bowl badly, even if it's in Shreveport. Florida State will make it five straight with its superior defense. Florida State 24, Florida 12

Louisville (7-4) at Kentucky (7-4), noon, SEC Network

David Hale: Cornerback Jaire Alexander's return to health has made all the difference for Louisville's defense, and quarterback Lamar Jackson should be on a mission to avenge last season's late loss to Kentucky. Louisville 40, Kentucky 30

Andrea Adelson: This will be the Lamar Jackson show. Enough said. Louisville 45, Kentucky 33

Boston College (6-5, 3-4) at Syracuse (4-7, 2-5), 12:20 p.m., ACC Network

David Hale: There has been progress for the Orange this year, but it's hard to see it after the past two weeks, in which the defense allowed 120 points and quarterback Eric Dungey was on the sideline. But Syracuse is a much better team at home, and I think coach Dino Babers will have his team ready to end on a high note. Syracuse 28, Boston College 24

Andrea Adelson: This has been a different Syracuse team without Eric Dungey, and I don't expect that to change Saturday. Boston College has done a nice job dealing with a bevy of injuries, and I think the Eagles win a close one. Boston College 30, Syracuse 27

Duke (5-6, 2-5) at Wake Forest (7-4, 4-3), 12:30 p.m., ACC Network

David Hale: Duke played its best game of the season last week against Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils embraced the running game to take some pressure off quarterback Daniel Jones and now need this one for bowl eligibility. As good as Wake was playing, I think Duke will find a way to get its sixth win. Duke 27, Wake Forest 24

Andrea Adelson: Wake's John Wolford might be the most underrated quarterback in the country, and Dave Clawson might be the most underrated coach, too. Remember both these teams started 4-0 and Wake Forest plays in the more difficult division. The Deacs' consistency has been impressive. They will cement themselves as the best team in North Carolina with a win. Wake Forest 35, Duke 27

North Carolina (3-8, 1-6) at NC State (7-4, 5-2), 3:30 p.m., ESPNU

David Hale: A year ago, the Wolfpack needed this game to get bowl eligible and save coach Dave Doeren's job. This year, they arrive in far better fashion but coming off a frustrating loss. While this rivalry game won't determine bowl eligibility or Doeren's future, it may well decide how fans remember the 2017 Wolfpack. NC State 42, North Carolina 21

Andrea Adelson: NC State has gone from the No. 14 team in the country to losses in three of its past four games. The pressure is on the Wolfpack to deliver against their struggling in-state rival. NC State 38, North Carolina 17

No. 3 Clemson (10-1) at No. 24 South Carolina (8-3), 7:30 p.m., ESPN

David Hale: Expect this one to be closer than most think -- and certainly closer than last year's Clemson blowout -- but there's too much on the line for the Tigers to lose. Gamecocks QB Jake Bentley's offseason comments should have both sides fired up, but the big question for me is how well Clemson QB Kelly Bryant plays. The Tigers need to get the downfield passing game going before the ACC title game. Clemson 24, South Carolina 20

Andrea Adelson: I agree with David. South Carolina is improved and will be a tough test before the ACC championship game. I would also like to see more dynamic plays from the offense as Clemson prepares for postseason play. Clemson 30, South Carolina 24

Overall:

Andrea Adelson: 77-23

David Hale: 72-28
