TAB Betting Blog: Cats, Bulldogs good value in Round 5

AFL

Best Bets

Head to head: Geelong @ $2.65

Geelong, who are $2.65 with TAB to beat Port Adelaide, are the best team in the competition to tip when they are the underdog. Since 2007, they have won 53 percent of the matches when they have been the outsider, with the next best 40 percent for Collingwood, Hawthorn and Sydney.

The Cats have also won 13 out of the past 14 matches against the Power, stretching back to the 2007 grand final.

Line: Western Bulldogs +9.5 @ $1.90

The Bulldogs did everything but win the game against Sydney last week, with only their best use inside 50 costing them the four points.

Crucially, the "Handball Club" that was a big factor in the Dogs' 2016 triumph was back to its best, with Jack Macrae, Toby McLean and Mitch Wallis leading the way at the coalface.

If the Dogs can kick straight (admittedly a big if), they should get the chocolates in the West.

Value Bets

Head to head: Adelaide @ $3.70

Adelaide is their longest price to win in three seasons against Sydney on Friday night. The Crows are $3.70 with TAB, their biggest odds since Round 15, 2015 when they were $5.15 to beat West Coast.

Quarter by quarter leader - Carlton/Carlton/Carlton/Carlton @ $9

West Coast has a deplorable record at the MCG, losing 15 of their past 20 matches at the home of football.

Scott Pendlebury to win the Anzac Day Medal @ $8

The two-time winner of the accolade has averaged 30 disposals in his 11 Anzac Day matches.
