PBA commissioner Willie Marcial hit TNT KaTropa guard Terrence Romeo with P22,600 in fines following an altercation with Columbian Dyip guard Rashawn McCarthy in the KaTropa's 118-114 overtime win Sunday night. The 5-foot-11 Romeo incurred a P20,000 fine for his head-butt on McCarthy during the 1:06 mark of regulation play. He was fined additional P1,000 for second motion along with a P1,600 penalty for taunting. Following the head-butt, Romeo and McCarthy continued their verbal sparring. Romeo shouted at McCarthy shortly after scoring on a difficult layup that gave the KaTropa a 117-114 lead with 58 seconds remaining in overtime. TNT pulled off the narrow win to put an end to its three-game skid and improve its record to 2-4 under assistant coach Eric Gonzales. Head coach Nash Racela is on leave. At the end of the match, Romeo and McCarthy met near midcourt and had a brief chat before embracing. Meanwhile, Columbian import Akeem Wright also got a P20,000 fine for his flagrant foul penalty 2 against Barangay Ginebra forward Aljon Mariano. The Kings kept the Dyip winless, 96-84 during their match last Sunday.
