Chot Reyes is out as head coach of the Gilas PIlipinas. Reyes has served three stints as the coach of the national basketball team, spanning 2005 until 2018.
Here are some key moments of Reyes' career as national team head coach.
EARLY 2005
Reyes was appointed as head coach of the Philippine team, which was a mix of professional and collegiate players. The team placed fifth in the 2005 FIBA Asia Champions Cup and third in the 2005 William Jones Cup. Reyes also led the national team to a title in the 2005 Brunei Sultan Cup. In that same year, the Philippines was suspended from all FIBA-sanctioned tournaments due to disagreements between the national basketball federation and the Philippine Olympic Committee, which led to the disbanding of the national team.
FEBRUARY 19, 2012
Following the initial success of the Gilas program under Rajko Toroman, Chot Reyes was again installed as the head coach. The goal at the time was for the Philippines to finish in the top three of the 2013 FIBA Championship which would earn a berth for the FIBA World Cup in Spain the following year.
AUGUST 26, 2012
The main focus of joining the 2012 Jones Cup, according to Reyes, was to build chemistry, but Gilas ended up winning the tournament. After being down by as much as 11 points in the first half, the national team won gold thanks to the late-game heroics of LA Tenorio, to defeat the USA team by one point in the finals.

AUGUST 10, 2013
Gilas finally broke through against Korea in the semifinals of the 2013 FIBA Asia Championship in Manila. Behind the offensive charge of Jayson Castro, the Philippines beat its long-time tormenter, 84-79, to enter the finals against Iran, at the same time clinch a spot in the FIBA World Cup - a historic moment that brought Coach Chot to tears.
JULY 19, 2014
Paul Lee made three free throws with no time left to give Gilas an 80-79 win over host China and the bronze medal in the 2014 FIBA Asia Cup. It was the Philippines' best finish in the tournament, which Reyes used to prepare the team for the FIBA World Cup.
SEPTEMBER 4, 2014
Gilas went toe-to-toe against powerhouses, such as Croatia, Greece, Argentina, and Puerto Rico, in the group stage of the FIBA World Cup in Spain. But all of those games ended in losses. In their final game Reyes and his Gilas squad outlasted Senegal, 81-79, in overtime to give the country its first win in FIBA's flagship tournament in 40 years.

After a dismal showing in the 2014 Asian Games and the disbandment of the FIBA World Cup roster, Reyes stepped aside as the head coach.

AUGUST 9, 2017
In their first game in the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon, Gilas shocks rival China, 96-87, behind Terrence Rome's 26-point explosion. The Philippines led by as much as 17 points in that game. Gilas was able to hold the Chinese scoreless in the last four minutes to secure the win.
JULY 2, 2018
Following a 22-point drubbing of Chinese Taipei, Gilas flew back home and played Australia at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan. A free-for-all broke out during the third quarter of the game which led to 13 player ejections and multiple suspensions. The Philippines went on to lose to the Boomers. The loss turns out to be Reyes' last game as Gilas coach.
