Encho Serrano to play for La Salle in Season 81

Once considered the best in his class, top high school prospect Encho Serrano has joined the De La Salle Green Archers and will be eligible for the upcoming 81st season of the UAAP.

Serrano confirmed his commitment via his personal Facebook account.

In 2016, Serrano was a stud playing for the Adamson Baby Falcons in the UAAP Juniors ranks. The versatile swingman averaged 19.3 points and 8.1 rebounds and was a legitimate MVP candidate. However, circumstances forced Serrano out of contention and virtually out of the Juniors Division.

The UAAP Board of Trustees deemed Serrano as ineligible due to failed submission of student records. With the decision, the Baby Falcons were disqualified in all the games in which Serrano participated in Season 79. Instead of a guaranteed spot in the Final Four, Adamson was turned upside down.

Since 2016, Serrano has not suited up for any UAAP or even NCAA school. He last made an impact in the 2017 FIBA 3x3 U17 World Cup in Chengou, China with teammates Rhayyan Amsali, AJ Edu, and Juan Gomez De LiaƱo. The Philippine team finished seventh in the tournament and Serrano even took home a silver medal in the dunk contest.

The 5-foot-11 Serrano will be a huge boost to an already talented La Salle backcourt of Kib Montalbo, Andrei Caracut, and Aljun Melecio. Add the intimidating frontline of Santi Santillan, Justine Baltazar, Brandon Bates, and Taane Samuel, the Green Archers have assembled a formidable lineup for Season 81.
