Olympic silver medallist and one of Indian badminton's top draws PV Sindhu hobbled off the practice courts with her right ankle in a crepe bandage, after spraining it during practice in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

A regular session at the SAIL-Gopichand Academy, with Sindhu practising against B Sai Praneeth under the watchful eyes of coach Pullela Gopichand, came to a halt, following which Sindhu could be seen wincing in pain. Her ankle was examined at length by the physios present before they decided to take her for precautionary X-rays.

Sindhu found it difficult to place any weight on her right foot afterwards, and had tears streaming down her face as she left. ESPN understands the medical team is hopeful of this being just a sprain.

"She had hurt her ankle while training at the academy today. So we did an MRI to be 100% sure that everything is fine. No bone or ligament injury was found, so I am happy. We didn't want to take any risk," Sindhu's father PV Ramana said.

"Now she will rest for a day and day after tomorrow she will start running again. She will go to the ground tomorrow and do some strengthening experience. There is enough time as CWG starts with team event. So nothing to worry."
