Time to put Brayshaw hit behind us: Lyon

AFL

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon has urged his players to be "hard-nosed pros" by putting a drama-filled week behind them.

The fallout from last week's fiery western derby has dominated headlines since Sunday, with West Coast's Andrew Gaff handed an eight-week ban for breaking the jaw of Fremantle youngster Andrew Brayshaw.

Brayshaw says he has forgiven Gaff over the incident, and hopes the two can now move on with their lives.

Fremantle players were left seething by Gaff's hit and vented their frustrations against Eagles players in the derby.

But with tempers now calmer, Lyon wants his group to turn their full attention to Sunday's home clash with last-placed Carlton.

"We haven't got the luxury to get stuck on an incident in a game from last weekend," Lyon said.

"It's been dealt with. Both boys have spoken from the heart, and it's done.

"It's a potential distraction if you let it be, We've got to let it fuel our preparation and desire to perform well.

"In the end the outcome, what we produce on the weekend, will maybe tell us have we been distracted, or have we been hard-nosed pros and got on with it."
